Meet HECC's Staff

Joy Osterhout, MS, CHES, is HECC’s current Principal/Owner. Osterhout started at HECC in 1999 as the Research Associate in the East Coast office, and in 2001 moved to California and became HECC's Project Director. Osterhout has worked with local, state, and federal government agencies, as well as non-profit health agencies in health education since 1995.  Osterhout is a Certified Health Education Specialist, and holds a MS in Health Education and Health Administration, and a BS in Marketing and Communications. In her free time you may find Joy attending tango and pilates classes, volunteering, gardening, painting watercolors, getting fit at the gym, knitting, or reading a humorous novel.

Marilyn White is HECC's Administrative Manager.  White has over 20 years administrative experience with local, state, federal, and non profit health and education projects, originally entering the field at Far West Laboratory for Education Research and Development (now WestEd).  She has a BA in Sociology.  Marilyn is a volunteer home health provider, loves a good mystery book, and recharges anywhere she can see the horizon and hear birds.

Lisa Hunter, PhD, is HECC’s past President and founding partner.  Prior to forming HECC, Hunter was employed for many years at Far West Laboratory for Educational Research and Development (now WestEd) in San Francisco, CA where she co-founded the Center for Health Promotion and Education, with former partner, Donna Lloyd-Kolkin, PhD.  Hunter's background is in human development. She loves to garden, watch the birds at her feeders and in exotic tree-tops, go antiquing, and contemplate the pleasures of life from a beach anywhere. Though Hunter has officially retired from HECC, you can still find her serving as a consultant when needed.
